About the Role

As Assistant Principal for Teaching, Learning and Assessment, you will play a pivotal strategic leadership role within the Group Curriculum Leadership Team, driving excellence and continuous improvement across the College Group. Reporting to the Director of Innovation, Enterprise and Quality Assurance, you will lead the development and implementation of ambitious teaching, learning and assessment strategies that enhance the student experience, raise standards and improve learner outcomes.

Working collaboratively with senior leaders, curriculum teams and external partners, you will oversee quality improvement activities, performance management systems and self-assessment processes to ensure the College Group delivers outstanding educational provision. You will champion evidence-informed practice, innovation and professional development, embedding a culture where staff are supported to reflect, improve and excel.

The post holder will lead cross-college initiatives to strengthen teaching, learning and assessment, ensure effective use of assessment to support student progress, and drive continuous enhancement through quality assurance activities, developmental lesson observations and workforce development programmes. As a senior leader, you will contribute significantly to strategic planning, operational management and the achievement of the College Group's vision, mission and values.

About You

We are seeking an inspirational and experienced educational leader with a proven track record of driving improvements in teaching, learning and assessment within a Further Education environment. You will be educated to degree level, hold a recognised teaching qualification, and bring substantial experience of strategic leadership, quality improvement and curriculum development.

You will have a strong understanding of education policy, inspection frameworks, quality assurance processes and the factors that contribute to outstanding learner outcomes. Demonstrable success in leading change, improving teaching standards and implementing effective performance management systems will be essential.

The ideal candidate will be a highly credible communicator with exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and inspiring colleagues at all levels. You will be committed to developing staff through coaching, mentoring and professional development, while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

You will be analytical and data-driven, able to identify priorities, evaluate impact and translate insights into effective action. Equally, you will be innovative, forward-thinking and passionate about creating exceptional learning experiences that support student achievement and progression.
